Abstract
This article examines the problems of forming a global regime for the prohibition of nuclear weapons as an evolutionary continuation of the non-proliferation regime. The authors analyzed the current state of the nonproliferation regime, examined the key challenges, as well as the causes of the crisis of this regime. The article presents a comparative analysis of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and examines the evolution of the idea of global nuclear disarmament. Using the methodology of international regime theory, the authors identify the constituent elements of a global regime for the prohibition of nuclear weapons. The article assesses the future prospects for the formation of the TPNW regime and provides the critical review of the norms and principles of this emerging regime, along with their impact on the global nuclear disarmament process.
