Annotation
On July 25, 2021, the first direct elections of rural mayors were held in Kazakhstan. This event became an important stage in the further improvement of local government institutions, and also launched a year-round electoral cycle in the country. The article is devoted to the results of the past elections, the analysis of the results, advantages and risks that direct elections of akims of the village entail. The study used the method of a random survey on the street, as well as interviews.
