Abstract
The article examines the current situation and trends in the income changes of the population in the southern regions of Kazakhstan in the context of their differentiation. It analyzes the gap between the levels of indicators in the four southern regions and the national average level of the main indicators determining the income situation – average monthly wage, per capita nominal cash income, and also examines income inequality in these regions based on the Gini coefficient and its deviation from the Kazakhstani level. The situation with real incomes of the population in the southern regions is also studied in comparison with the corresponding parameters at the national level. The analysis of the dynamics of the considered indicators makes it possible to identify the main trends in income differentiation, in particular, the trend of reducing the gap between regional and republican values of population income indicators, as well as the trend of slowing down this reduction over the last decade. The conducted research allows us to conclude that significant income differentiation persists in the southern regions of Kazakhstan, which is observed in most of the relevant indicators, despite limited progress in some aspects.
